By Eric Gaede

July 30 and 31, 2010 Colby , KS . –Fans were treated to two fantastic nights of racing during the Thomas County Speedway-F&M Insurance IMCA Modified Summer Shootout! The track was very different for both nights of racing to allow for differing setups and driving styles. Come be a part of the excitement as the next races will be Sunday August 22 nd at 7:00 pm .

Modifieds

The Modifieds were the only class racing both nights and had two completely different track surfaces to deal with. Friday was a classic dry-slick track with rubber from the bottom to the top of the track. Saturdays track was a tacky track providing more grip especially in the heats. Will Brack had the best setup for both styles of track surface winning both nights mains and being the only car that made the top four both nights. Second place in Friday night’s main event was 4-time IMCA National Champion David Murray and third went to Matt Brack. Jason Schoenberger had a new car, a new number and a strong run for fourth. Darren Deloach ran top five with Brady Coen coming in sixth.

Saturdays main had Will Brack starting in last place after having to pit for a flat tire on lap three. Brack had to run both the high and low lines to make up all the positions lost in the pits. As he was making a run for the front Jach Schultz held the lead from the pole and Dylan Sherfick was fighting hard for the lead. As the laps progressed John Hanson found the high groove and grabbed the lead with Darren Deloach closing in towards the lead. A yellow bunched up the field and made the restart very interesting as Will Brack had made it all the way to forth place. Hansen, Deloach and Brack had a great race for the lead for a couple of laps with Brack and Deloach pulling away to decide the finish for themselves. Brack got to the checkered first Deloach getting second and Hansen in third. Cody Gerhart made it to fourth just getting past Dylan Scherfick and Brady Coen held on to sixth. There were 31 cars on hand Friday and 30 Saturday.

Rance Schindler came in third Tom Nelson fourth and Lance Linthacum finished the main after suffering a rollover during his heat race.

After reviewing the action Gray was given the win and Normandin was moved to tenth place. Bryan Guyer finished second with Jorey Freisen in third.
