Leiker takes win in third annual Jeff Hartwell Memorial race.
Another great season came to an end this past Sunday as the Thomas County Speedway ran the third annual Jeff Hartwell Memorial races. Tim Leiker, Jason Rogers, BJ Dauer, and Jeremy Blackwell took home the final trophies of the year. Track champions for 2009 were Darren Deloach in Modifieds, Jason Rogers in Stocks, BJ Dauer in Hobby Stocks and Tyrel Smith in the Econo division. Thanks for all the fans support throughout the year and we hope to see you again in 2010. You can check our website at www.thomascountyspeedway.com for race dates in the coming year.
Tim Leiker moved quickly from his second row starting position to the lead and with no cautions to bunch up the field he took an easy victory. John Fabrizius could match his lap times but had to settle for second. Darren Deloach, this years track champion in the IMCA Modified division, finished third in the main. John Fose finished a strong fourth and Jason Brees passed the most cars getting by nine other competitors to grab the fifth spot. Matt Fabrizius made it up to sixth position. There were twenty Modifieds on hand.
Jason Rogers had to start in the fifth row of the main but had a great car and used the lower groove to move past his competitors and grab victory in the IMCA Stock Car class and also the track championship. Dustin Daniels had a tougher time getting to the front and ran out of laps as he was gaining on Rogers in the last few laps of the race. Rod Bencken started up front and held on to third place holding off Ryan Wark who had to settle for fourth. Bruch Plumisto had a nice top five run and Randy Tipton finished sixth. There were thirteen Stocks on hand.
BJ Dauer was back to his winning ways and also took home the season championship in the IMCA Hobby Stock division. Dalton Dolan had a great run and finished second holding off Travis Glassman in third. Josh Latka was right with them but ended up fourth. Jeff Doty finished in the top five with Brett Glassman in sixth. There were twelve cars in the Hobby Stock class.
In the Econo division Jeremy Blackwell had the driving duties this week in the #37x car and also made his way to the winners circle with Jason Gray settling for second. Alex West and Chad Normandin had a good battle for third and fourth. Tyrel Smith finished with a top five and that was good enough to win the season championship. Thirteen cars started the main.
