August 31, 2008 - Colby , KS . – John Fabrizius won the first annual Jeff Hartwell Memorial Modified race. Champions were also crowned tonight as the 2008 season wound down. Darrin DeLoach won the Modified track championship. Travis Towns won the Stock Car class. Todd Pankonin won the championship in the Hobby Stock class and Alex West was the champ in the Econo class. Modifieds

John Fabrizius #42 led from start to finish as there were no cautions in the special 23 lap distance. The race distance was in remembrance of Jeff Hartwell’s car number #23. Matt Morris #21m tried to run Fabrizius down but could not get to him before the finish. Brian Morris #8 came in 3 rd with Matt Brack #16m just getting past Raymond Dechant #00 for 4 th and 5 th. Nick Tubbs #737 was 6 th and Darrin Deloach #21 in 7 th, good enough to capture the track championship. Jeff Tubbs #37 finished 8 th ahead of Brady Coen 9 th and Monty Nordyke #9 in 10 th. Twenty-one cars started the main.

Stocks

Ryan Wark #8 swept his heat, the cash dash and the main for a clean sweep. Jason Rogers #37 gave it all he had but had to settle for 2 nd. Jason Stevens #77 led for several laps but settled for 3 rd. Derrick Braudaway #444 was 4 th and Wheat Lippelmann #44 finished 5 th. Tim Glassman #46 ran in the stock class for the first time and was 6 th. Brad Wagoner #15w finished 7 th, Travis Towns #3 was 8 th and also captured the track championship. BJ Wagoner #51w finished in 9 th.

Hobby Stocks

Richard Boon #33 got his first win at Thomas County Speedway in the Hobby Stock class. Brett Glassman #16 was a close 2 nd with Josh Latka #96 in 3 rd. Travis Glassman #26 finished in 4 th and Matthew Crowell #2c 5 th. Norman Wiechman #63 ran up front and finished 6 th. Jason McIntyre #6m finished in 7 th and Todd Pankonin #16d had bad luck with his engine in his heat and in a true act of sportsmanship Allen Kurth let Pankonin run his car in the main. That move gave Pankonin a 8 th place in the main and gave him the track championship. Twelve cars were in the field.

Econos

Chad Normandin #01 won his second main in a row, with Adrienne West #7 running a great race in 2 nd. Cody Pancake #40 finished in the 3rd position, and Bruce Plumisto #1 in 4 th place. Alex Crossland #27 ended the night in 5 th and Mark Carmicheal #21 in 6 th. Eleven cars started the main.
