Plumisto thrills crowd with first win of season.

August 21st, Colby , KS – Great weather greeted fans for the second to last races of the year for the Thomas County Speedway. Ryan Baalman in the Econo class and Bruce Plumisto in the IMCA Stock Car class got there first wins of the season. Angel Munoz in the IMCA Hobby Stock class continued his string of wins and Adam Morris got his second win of the season in the IMCA Modified Division. The last races of the year will be Sunday, September 4th at 7:00pm . See you at the track!

IMCA Modifieds

Adam Morris again took advantage of a front row starting spot to get a great lead and get the win. Shannon Maughlin had a great run but couldn’t quite catch Morris and finished second. Brady Coen worked hard to get his third place run battling Nate Moore for several laps with Moore finishing in fourth. Darren Deloach also worked hard for his fifth place run after battling John Fose for several laps, Fose finished in the sixth position.

IMCA Stock Cars

Local favorite Bruce Plumisto nabbed his first victory of the year in the IMCA Stock Car class. The crowd celebrated with him as many fans gathered by the flag stand to congratulate him in victory circle. BJ Wagoner was getting close as the laps were winding down, but didn’t have enough to get past Plumisto. Jason Rogers came in third and Dustin Daniels finished fourth. Nick Tubbs finished top five and Jeff Tubbs finished sixth. Thirteen Stocks were on hand.

IMCA Hobby Stocks

Angel Munoz is still making life difficult for the other drivers in the IMCA Stock Car class, getting his fourth win in a row at Colby. Jason McIntyre led much of the race but too many cautions allowed Munoz to get past him for the victory. Cody Ghumm Had a good run for third and Tyrel Smith finished fourth. John Luckert ran well but the cautions also cost him a few positions with him finishing fifth. It was a very rough night for Cody Pancake and Mike Giesenhagen, as they got tangled up on the backstretch and both got into the wall. Pancake’s car rolled after coming off the wall and hitting the guardrail. Hopefully those two can make repairs and be at the next races. Ten Hobby’s were in the field.

Econos

The Econo class had a rough start to the races as Joe Harper didn’t make it past turn one and rolled as he went off the track ending his night early. Ryan Baalman got his first victory in the class at Colby by outrunning Jory Friesen to the checkers. Jason Gray finished in the third spot and Scott McDonald was fourth. Bryan Guyer finished in the fifth position. Ten Econo’s were on-hand.
