Track NewsAugust 1-2 Colby , KS. – The eleventh annual F&M Insurance Modified Shootout featured 41 Modifieds competing for a purse of over $17,000. Twenty eight cars ran forty laps to see who was the best this year. Will Brack took home the $5,000 check after outrunning some of the best drivers in the middle US. The weather was hot and so was the action both nights during the Thomas County Free Fair. Join us for the last race of the season on August 31st.
Modifieds
Will Brack #15w became the seventh winner of the shootout by making a great pass on David Murray Jr. #97m after an early caution. Murray finished 4th as Jerry Phillips #66 and John Hansen #8h also got by him shortly thereafter. Phillips and Hansen both moved in on the leader in lap traffic but could not make the pass and settled for 2nd and 3rd. Matt Brack #16m finished in 5th holding back Brendon Gimmill #G3 with Gimmill finishing in 6th. Former shootout winner Darrin DeLoach #21 came in 7th and Jason Schoenberger #6 (the last race winner) came in 8th. Jay Noteboom #7n, a hard charger all the way from Iowa finished 9th, with Brady Coen in 10th. Twenty eight cars started the main.
Stocks
Lloyd Meeske #32 made it to the winners circle after some hard racing ended in bad night for two regular Colby racers. Jason Rogers #37 started outside pole and was squeezed up into the wall on the first lap to end his night early. Ryan Wark #8 had his night ended also when he was going for the lead under Meeske and made contact. Wark had to pull off with a flat tire. Angel Munoz #2m ran a strong 2 nd and Brad Wagoner charged up through the pack for 3 rd. Adam Balthazor finished in 4 th and Wheat Lippelmann #44 in 5 th. Eric Kinderknecht #CZ8 had a new car built and finished 6 th. Two new drivers, Colton Osborn #50 and Trevor Wadel #60t, came in 7 th and 8 th. Twenty one cars started the main.
Hobby Stocks
Travis Glassman #26 was back in the winners circle with a win in the Hobby Stock Division. Todd Pankonin #16d just couldn’t reel him in and finished 2nd. Matthew Crowell #2c gained a few positions from the start and finished 3rd. Jason McIntyre #6m also moved up several positions to end the race in 4th. Joey Carter #88j had to start at the back of the field twice during the race and still finished in 5th. Richard Boon #33 was 6th, Chad Fields 7th and Allen Snethen #21 in 8th. Eleven cars started the main.
Econos
Chad Normandin #01 was the big winner in the Econo class. Justin Rainwater #73x made his first time at Colby a good one by leading most of the race and finishing 2nd. Lee Hageman #4 came in 3rd and Donovan Nichols #44 was 4th. Dusty Knox #99 held on for 5th and Cody Pancake #40 finished in the 6th position. Dan Blair #86 ran well at the start but faded to 7th. Alex Crossland #27 ended the night in 8th and JR Wolfrum #11 and Chris Hildebrand #c8 were 9th and 10th. Sixteen cars started the main.
