July 20, 2008. Colby , KS . – Sixty-one drivers were in attendance for the fourth race of the season. Many were hoping to get a good setup for the upcoming Thomas County Fair races. The eleventh annual F&M Insurance Modified Shootout will bring in some of the best IMCA modified racers in the country for a chance at a $5,000 payday. The races will be on August 1 st and 2 nd the last two nights of the fair. Start time is 8:00pm on Friday and 7:00pm on Saturday. Hope to see you at the shootout!

Modifieds

Jason Schoenberger #6 had his best night ever at the Thomas County Speedway as he took a front row starting spot and turned it into a win. Nick Tubbs #737 made several attempts to get the lead but in the end Darrin Deloach #21 snuck past him for 2 nd and Tubbs was 3 rd. Ronnie Hill #41 was close in 4 th and Brady Coen #3 ran well, winning his heat and the cash dash but had to settle for 5 th in the main. Randy Wilson #A2 made his first start at Colby and finished 6 th with Tim Leiker #65T and Jeff Tubbs #37 in 7 th and 8 th. Dylan Sherfick #66d and Adam Morris #8 finished in the top ten. Twenty Modifieds were in attendance.

Stocks

Travis Towns #3 went from seventh place all the way to the winners circle in the stock class main. Jason Rogers #37 finished 2 nd even after having to go to the pits after an incident with Travis Sherfick #66. Sherfick finished 4 th. Wheat Lippelmann started on the front row and stayed up front for 3 rd. Rick Beesley #46k finished with a top five. Brad Wagoner #15W came in 6 th and Derrick Braudaway #444 finished in 7 th. BJ Wagoner #51W finished 8 th and Ryan Wark #8 and Dan Lauer #49 both had mechanical issues and finished 9 th and 10 th.

Hobby Stocks

Todd Pankonin #16d won the main but it came with a price. His engine was claimed by Allen Snethen #21 who finished tenth. Richard Boon #33 started just ahead of Panokin but did not get through traffic as good and finished 2 nd. Joey Carter #88j also started toward the rear and made good progress for 3 rd position. Jeff Dody #3D had a great battle with Jason McIntyre #6M with Doty in 4 th and McIntyre in 5 th. Allen Kurth #38 held off Matthew Crowell #2c for 6 th. Travis Glassman #26 and Brett Glassman #16 finished 8 th and 9 th. Sixteen cars were on hand in the Hobby Stocks.

Econos

Mark Carmichael #21 got his first win at Colby in the Econo class. Adrienne West #7 stayed in front of her father to get 2 nd and Alex West 3 rd. Lee Hageman #4 came in 4 th with Tyrel Smith #88 in 5 th. Cody Pancake #40 finished 6 th and JR Wolfrum #11 in 7 th. Dylan Hageman #9 was 8 th and Chris Hildebrand #C8 in 9 th, Dan Blair #86 rounded out the top ten. Fifteen Econos were on hand.
