Track NewsNASCAR Champion Randy LaJoie Set to Race in Colby.

June, 1st 2008 Colby, KS.- Two time Nascar Busch Series Champion Randy LaJoie will be at the Thomas County Speedway, Fathers Day June 15th as the IMCA BST Modified series comes to town for the second time this year. The best drivers in the area will get to take on one of NASCAR’s former champion’s as LaJoie returns to the seat. LaJoie has retired from full time racing too pursue expanding his business, manufacturing racing seats for econo class all the way up to Sprint Cup series cars. Bring Dad out for all the great racing action.
Modifieds
Brady Coen #3 used a great start to get past local racers Jeff Tubbs #37 and Nick Tubbs #737 and then held off a last lap charge from Darrin Deloach #21 to get the win in the Modified division. DeLoach came in 2nd, Jeff Tubbs 3rd, and Nick Tubbs 4th. Ronnie Hill was trying several lines to get around the Tubbs duo but came up short and settled for 5th, Drew Miller #49 in his second race at Colby in a Modified came in 6th.
Stock Cars
The Stock class put on another excellent show as Travis Sherfick #66 picked up his first win in Colby. Travis Towns #3 just about took the win away as he caught Scherfick on the last lap but had to settle for 2nd. Ryan Wark #8 and Jason Rogers #37 ran side by side for much of the race with Wark getting to the checkers for 3rd and Rogers 4th. Marshall Hoppe #11H was 5th, with Adam Balthazor #92 in 6th. Eleven cars started the main.
Hobby Stocks
Brent Glassman #16 had a terrible outing at the last race but came back to win in his second race at Colby in the Hobby Stock class. Travis Glassman #26 stayed with him all the way for 2nd and Richard Boon #33 came in 3rd. Todd Pankonin #16d survived a spin and finished 4th and Ricky Runnion came from the back of the pack on a restart to finish 5th. Jeff Dody #3d ran well in 6th and Allen Kurth #38 had to pit for a flat tire and made it back up the 7th. Thirteen cars started the main.
Econos
A very scary crash caused a red flag for several minutes as rescue crews had to extract Adrienne West #7 from her car. Adrienne had jumped to the infield after making contact with another car and ran head on into one of the rodeo chute pole’s. Adrienne was taken to the hospital as a precaution and was released without any major injuries. Chad Fields #10f came out on top after the green came back out. Adrienne’s father, Alex West #31, came in 2nd with Lee Hageman finishing 3rd. Brandon Redlin #49 was 4th and Mark Carmichael #21 getting a top 5 in his first race at Colby. Fifteen cars started the main.
