2007 Thomas County Speedway kicks off the season May 6, 2007 .

May 6, 2007 Colby , KS . –The season opened for the Thomas County Speedway on Sunday, May 6th. The weather was great for racing here in northwest Kansas although much of the rest of the state was fighting severe weather and flooding. The BST Modified series rolled into town and 25 modifieds came to battle for the win with Oberlin’s David Murray Jr. coming out on top.

Modifieds

David Murray Jr. #97m started on the outside pole and fought off restart charges from Nick Tubbs #737 and Dustin Daniels #33m to win the twenty-five lap shootout. Daniels finished 2nd and Darren Deloach #21 finished 3rd after several laps of hard running side by side for the position. Tubbs finished 4th with Will Brack # 15w rounding out the top five. Jason Schoenberger #6 finished 6th, Ronnie Hill #41 was 7th, Jeff Tubbs #37 8th, and Angel Munoz was 9th and he was the only driver to run in two classes.

Stock Cars

Lloyd Meeske #32 used a pole position starting spot to take the lead and get the win in the Stock class. It was a great race for 2nd with Angel Munoz #95w, Mike Meyer #01, and Ryan Wark #8 fighting it out for 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Travis Towns #3 took 5th and Jason Rogers #37 finished 6th. Eleven stocks started the main.

 Bombers

The Bomber class had a great battle for the win between the top five all race. Raymond Decant #00 got the win after battling side by side for most of the race with Travis Branum #3rt 2nd, Matt Morris #21 3rd, Ron Haremza #11x 4th and Mike Giesenhagen #111 5th. Allen Kurth #38 took 6th and Joey Snethen #S98 7th. There were 10 bombers on-hand.

Econos

Dusty Knox #99 got a great start and went on to win the Econo main. Alex West #31 and Richard Pummer #13 finished 2nd and 3rd. Tyrel Smith #12 grabbed 4th and JR. Wolfrum #11 finished the top five. Lee Hagaman #4 got into the turn 4 wall and the tire barrier twice and was not able to finish the main. Chris Hildebrand #c8 finished 2nd, but was found to have a carburetor spacer and was disqualified.
